The Learning Agency was founded in 2017 by Ulrich Boser. The best-selling author of the book Learn Better, Boser has been working in the education technology field for more than 20 years. Today, the organization boasts a diverse group of educators, technologists, researchers, policy experts, and strategists across the globe ready to take on big problems.

Our Impact

- The Learning Engineering Virtual Institute: A program of Renaissance Philanthropy, the Learning Engineering Virtual Institute (LEVI) aims to create interventions that will double the rate of middle school math progress for low-income students. The Learning Agency serves as an operating partner of the program, which brings together a select group of grantees leveraging advanced computational methods to develop, scale, and implement AI-based tools that help low-income students succeed.
- The Tools Competition: Since 2020, The Learning Agency has run the world’s largest ed tech competition: the Tools Competition. As a program of Renaissance Philanthropy, the Tools Competition has named more than 150 winners from 44 countries. By 2027, winning tools will impact 131+ million learners from early childhood through adulthood.
- The Feedback Prize: Working together with academic partners from several institutions, The Learning Agency team developed one of the largest datasets in education – known as the Feedback Prize – as well as pioneered major new algorithms that have been picked up by organizations like Google.
