Campaign To Elevate The Science Of Learning

The Learning Agency (TLA) is launching a campaign to elevate the science of learning.

With generous support from the Overdeck Family Foundation, The Learning Agency (LA) is launching a campaign to elevate the science of learning.

Together with a number of key partners, the LA aims to create high-quality video resources that show the science of learning in action as well as raise up the science of learning more broadly. The LA will be working with the Learning Scientists, Leading Educators, and the International Society for Technology in Education (or ISTE).

For this project, the LA will focus on six science of learning strategies include spacing, interleaving, elaboration, metacognition, concrete examples, and retrieval practice.  Each of the approaches are based on decades of research from cognitive psychology. We aim to create six videos of science of learning strategies around these topics.

As part of the project, Dr. Megan Sumeracki, Dr. Regan Gurung, and Dr. Yana Weinstein will be paired with educators and document the science of learning in action. The project will be bidirectional, and the LA team and its partners will be working closely with teachers to better understand how to implement the science of learning. As critical participants, teachers will provide detailed feedback as well as drive the conversation around implementation.

To ensure that the videos get wide traction, LA will also be working with Leading Educators, an organization devoted to providing teacher training, in order to engage teachers in implementing science of learning strategies. The LA will also be working with ISTE, which aims to help translate the science of learning.

The LA  is currently recruiting teachers. See this document for details or email Ulrich at ulrich@the-learning-agency.com or Alisa at alisa@the-learning-agency.com for more information.
