Meg Benner Named President Of The Learning Agency

WASHINGTON, DC – The Learning Agency today announced the appointment of Meg Benner to President, a newly created position. In this role Benner will lead a broad portfolio of projects, ranging from AI-driven technical development to the administration of large-scale grant programs.

I have full confidence in her ability to steer The Learning Agency through its most ambitious chapter yet.”
Since its founding in 2019, Benner has served as The Learning Agency’s Managing Director overseeing key projects, including the creation and growth of the Tools Competition, the leading global prize for breakthrough ed tech learning tools and platforms. Now in its sixth cycle, the competition has awarded $20 million in funding to 150 companies, developers and entrepreneurs. She also led the administration of the Learning Engineering Virtual Institute, a multi-year program to develop, scale, and implement AI-based tools designed to dramatically improve learning in math and literacy. During Benner’s tenure, the company has grown from four employees to more than 24 today.

Before helping start The Learning Agency, Benner was Senior Director at Leadership for Educational Equity, overseeing policy fellowship programs and policy workshops. Her Capitol Hill experience includes shaping federal education, disability, and labor policy for both chambers. She served as a policy advisor for Rep. George Miller (House Committee on Education and the Workforce) and as an education advisor for Senators Richard Blumenthal and Christopher Dodd.
Benner began her career as a first- and second-grade teacher in the Bronx and Washington, DC. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University.
